Air Awareness

When a disaster strikes, and the power is out, disaster relief professionals need to quickly establish the air picture, enabling safe control of vital incoming aid. Automatic Dependant Surveillance- Broadcast (ADS-B) is a VHF protocol that aircraft broadcasts once it determines its position via satellite navigation, thus enabling it to be tracked. While many internet sites provide tracking of these protocols, if you don't have an internet connection, DECODIO RED can still capture, record, and decode both protocols, enabling controllers to maintain a basic situational awareness. A true stand-alone system! Within the software, positions from ADS-B can be displayed on various maps and critical information (country code, squawk, etc) can be displayed in the GUI. Aircraft reports from ACARS and VDLM2 can also be decoded and those messages with locations displayed as well. While DECODIO RED can never replace a traditional Air Traffic Control System, it can be used as a stand-alone emergency supplement.

Have a larger area to cover? DECODIO RED can also be used in a remote mode with multiple sensors to spread the monitoring range. RED can also monitor critical Air Traffic Control frequencies, such as approach and landing, to ensure communications stay smooth.

  • Quickly locate and display ADS-B, ACARS, and VDLM2 message contents, including position data
  • Decode vital information controllers can use
  • Monitor the spectrum for interference
  • Choose different map options, from basic to topographic, or load a custom aeronautical map
  • Measure distances easily inside the map
  • Scale from one pocket sized sensor, to a robust multi sensor site
  • Can use government or commercial grade GNSS receivers
  • Monitor ATC frequencies
